The Stool Microscopy, Culture, Identification & Sensitivity (MC&S) test at Pamel Laboratories is a comprehensive diagnostic test used to detect and identify bacteria, parasites, or other pathogens that may cause gastrointestinal infections. This test helps pinpoint the exact cause of symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and bloody or mucous stool, and determines which antibiotics or treatments are most effective against the identified organism.

What the Test Includes:

1. Microscopy – Examination of stool for parasites, ova (eggs), cysts, pus cells, red blood cells, and yeast

2. Culture – Grows and isolates bacterial pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli)

3. Identification – Determines the exact infectious organism present

4. Sensitivity (Antibiogram) – Tests which antibiotics are most effective for treatment

Purpose of the Test:

• Diagnose bacterial or parasitic gastroenteritis

• Identify causes of persistent or bloody diarrhea
