Oral Swab – Microscopy, Culture, Identification & Sensitivity (MC&S)

The Oral Swab MC&S test at Pamel Laboratories is a specialized diagnostic test that involves taking a swab from the mouth, throat, or inner cheeks to detect bacterial, fungal, or other pathogenic organisms. This test is commonly used to investigate oral infections, mouth ulcers, throat pain, or persistent bad breath, and to identify the most effective antibiotics or antifungal medications for treatment.

It is especially useful in detecting oral thrush, streptococcal throat infections, or post-dental procedure infections.

What the Test Includes:

1. Microscopy – Examines the swab sample under a microscope for pus cells, yeast cells, and bacteria

2. Culture – Grows organisms present to identify infectious agents such as Candida albicans, Streptococcus, or Staphylococcus

3. Identification – Determines the exact species of microorganism causing the infection
