Original price was: ₦3,000.00.Current price is: ₦2,000.00.

The CDRL/Khan Test at Pamel Laboratories is a serological test used to screen for syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. This test detects non-specific antibodies (reagins) that the body produces in response to the infection. It is valuable for early diagnosis, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and screening asymptomatic individuals, especially in antenatal care, STD clinics, and pre-marital testing.

The CDRL (a variant of VDRL) and Khan reactions are widely recognized methods for initial syphilis detection.

What the Test Detects:

  • Reagin antibodies against lipid material released from damaged host cells or the bacteria

  • Indicates active or past syphilis infection depending on the titer

Purpose of the Test:

  • Screen for early and latent syphilis

  • Monitor treatment response in diagnosed syphilis patients

  • Conduct routine STD screening

  • Part of antenatal serology screening

  • Investigate unexplained skin rashes, genital ulcers, or neurological symptoms

Sample Type: Blood sample (serum)

Turnaround Time: Same day (within a few hours)

Important Notes:

  • A positive result should be confirmed with a specific treponemal test (e.g., TPHA or FTA-ABS)

  • False positives may occur in conditions such as pregnancy, malaria, tuberculosis, or autoimmune diseases

  • Accurate interpretation requires clinical correlation
