The High Vaginal Swab (HVS) – Microscopy, Culture & Sensitivity test at Pamel Laboratories is a targeted diagnostic test used to detect and identify infections in the female reproductive tract, particularly the vagina and cervix. It is commonly requested to investigate abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, pelvic discomfort, or suspected sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The test helps identify bacterial, fungal, or parasitic organisms and provides guidance on the most effective antibiotics or antifungal treatments based on sensitivity testing.

What the Test Includes:

1. Microscopy – Examination of the swab under a microscope for pus cells, clue cells, yeast, Trichomonas, and epithelial cells

2. Culture – Growth of organisms such as Candida, Gardnerella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, etc.

3. Sensitivity Testing – Identifies the most effective antibiotics or antifungal medications for treatment
